Postdoctoral Research utilizing Bayesian methods to address questions related to a long-term demography study of birds

The Tarwater lab (https://www.tarwaterlab.com) is seeking a highly qualified and enthusiastic individual for a full-time postdoctoral position. The ideal candidate would have a strong background in Bayesian statistics, including mark-recapture analysis and occupancy analysis. The Lab seeks an applicant who is able to develop and apply cutting-edge Bayesian approaches to ask questions about changes in the demography and community of tropical birds using a long-term (1977-present) mark-recapture study in central Panama. The successful candidate will work on questions of interest to the Tarwater lab but will have the flexibility to develop their own research questions using this unique and growing dataset. The successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge demographic analyses, contribute to writing manuscripts, and have the opportunity to collaborate with students. We seek a candidate with an outstanding academic background who is passionate about Bayesian and demographic analyses.

The postdoc position is for at least one year, with the possibility of longer based on progress. Salary will be between $60,000 - $65,000/year, depending upon experience level, and will include health benefits. The primary location of the candidate will be Laramie, WY, but there is the possibility of remote work for some of the time.

Qualifications: Applicants must hold a PhD (or have one by the start date) In biology, natural resources management, ecology, evolution, wildlife biology, or related field. Applicants must have published (or have in review) a manuscript using Bayesian methods. Preference will be given to candidates who have published (or have in review) manuscripts using Bayesian methods with mark-recapture data.

Application: Please complete the online application and upload the following as a single PDF containing (1) a cover letter, (2) a CV (maximum 3 pages), (3) a statement of research interests (maximum 2 pages), (4) one representative manuscript demonstrating knowledge of Bayesian analyses, and (5) contact information for three references. The online application is here -  https://eeik.fa.us2.oraclecloud.com/hcmUI/CandidateExperience/en/sites/CX_1/job/243082/?utm_medium=jobshare

Any questions should be directed to Dr. Corey Tarwater (corey.tarwater@uwyo.edu ). Review of applications will begin October 28th. The start date of the position is flexible, but ideally the candidate would begin in early 2025.
